Emergency readiness and boarding recovery
Two clocks. The first is the delay between a patient needing emergency care and the department responding — the target is zero. The second starts when an ED patient is admitted and ends when they are transfer-ready for a ward bed — the target is 15 minutes.
Why boarding is a whole-hospital problem
An admitted patient waiting in the ED is not an ED problem. It is a ward discharge that has not happened, a bed that has not been turned, and a transfer nobody has started. SyncareX connects the three.
What the ED charge nurse sees
- Every admitted patient with a live transfer-ready clock and the step that is holding them
- Ward beds that are ready, being turned, or about to be released — from the same discharge clocks
- Boarding hours accumulating, by ward and by cause, while they can still be acted on
- Zero-delay response: triage, team and bay assignment triggered on arrival, not on paperwork
Admission to transfer-ready, in 15 minutes
- 00:00
Admission decision in the EMR
Clock starts. Bed management sees the request with specialty, acuity and isolation needs.
- 00:00 – 06:00
Bed matched
A ready or soon-ready bed is matched from the live discharge clocks across wards, not from a phone round.
- 02:00 – 12:00
Handover and transport prepared
Handover summary assembled and verified; porter and receiving nurse notified with the expected time.
- ≤ 15:00
Transfer ready
The patient leaves the ED as soon as the bed is turned. If the bed is not ready, the delay is attributed to the ward clock — visibly.
The clinical layer
SyncareX's emergency module runs as a governed overlay on the ED: the AI reads the record and the department's live state, proposes the next step, and a deterministic verifier checks it before anyone sees it. Clinicians decide; the system keeps the department moving between decisions.
