Flagship 1 of 3 · 15:00 from order to bed ready

The 15-minute discharge

A discharge is five jobs done by five teams on five systems. Today they happen one after another, with phone calls in between. SyncareX starts all five the moment the order is signed and releases the bed when the last one clears.

What happens in the 15 minutes

Times are targets for a routine ward discharge. Complex discharges get a longer clock, not a hidden one.

  1. 00:00

    Discharge order signed

Pulled from the EMR. The clock starts and every role's screen shows the patient.

  2. 00:00 – 04:00

    Medical plan created and confirmed

Draft discharge summary, medication reconciliation and follow-up plan assembled from the record. The verifier checks it against the chart; the physician confirms or edits.

  3. 00:30 – 06:00

    Support assessment

Mobility, home support, equipment, transport — flagged early so social work or the family is engaged before the bed is being chased.

  4. 01:00 – 09:00

Pharmacy, billing and insurance in parallel

Discharge medicines queued at pharmacy; billing reconciled; insurer or TPA final approval requested — each visible as its own step with its own owner.

  5. 06:00 – 13:00

    Patient education and provider communication

Education delivered in the patient's language, follow-up booked, summary sent to the referring physician or GP.

  6. 13:00 – 15:00

    Bed ready

Housekeeping notified automatically; bed management sees the bed turn. The ED and admissions see it at the same moment.

Why it is usually hours today

Not because anyone is slow. Because the discharge order sits in the EMR, the pharmacy finds out when the nurse calls, billing finds out when the family asks, and the insurer finds out last. Each handover waits for a person to notice.

What SyncareX changes

  • Every team is notified at 00:00, on their own screen, from the system they already use.
  • Each step has a named owner and a visible clock, so delays are seen while they can still be fixed.
  • Nothing is re-keyed. Data moves between your systems; staff only confirm.
  • The patient is told to leave only when billing and medicines are actually done — no waiting in the corridor.

For Indian hospitals TPA pre-auth, final approval and medicine pricing confirmation are explicit timed steps. The bed-ready clock does not stop while a claim is pending, so the delay is visible to management rather than absorbed by the ward.
